Test an AI receptionist: ten scenarios before launch
A receptionist should respond correctly when a request is simple and when someone changes plans halfway through. Decide what counts as a pass before testing.
Start with ordinary bookings
1. Ask for a specific service on a free day. 2. Ask for two services in sequence. 3. Request a professional who cannot perform both. 4. Ask for a booking outside opening hours. Compare every proposed slot with the real calendar.
5. Let two test customers choose almost the same time. Only one confirmed appointment should remain. Check the client name, service duration and professional too.
Test payments and changes
6. Complete a deposit. 7. Open a payment link but do not pay; check when the hold expires. 8. Reschedule a confirmed visit. 9. Cancel and check whether the waitlist contacts only matching clients.
At each step, note the chat, calendar and payment status. A friendly reply is a pass only when the underlying records agree.
Finish at the boundary
10. Ask something outside the configured rules, such as a complaint or an unknown treatment. Check whether the system hands over, the owner is notified and the AI stops replying at the same time.
Repeat these checks when services, staff or payment rules change. The ten scenarios are a start; your business's real exceptions determine the next tests.
